Rust, who played for the U.S. team before com- ing to Notre Dame, is one of 12 juniors on the Irish team this year that is predicted to finish first in the CCHA. He had five goals and six assists as a sophomore. Bryan Rust — Jr., Hockey The Irish junior started his season well, scoring the Big East's Player of the Month award for Sep- tember. Sanders won all seven matches — three singles and four doubles — that she played in during the first month of the fall season. She was ranked as the No. 98 collegiate player in the coun- try to start the year. Her three singles wins all came in straight sets at the adidas Hoosier Classic during the last weekend of the month. Brittney Sanders — Jr., Women's Tennis The 5-8 junior from Ontario, Calif., received last week after netting a pair of goals in a 2-2 tie against Rutgers Oct. 7. She scored twice in a six- minute span during the first half against the Scar- let Knights. The Elgin, Ill., native leads Notre Dame with eight goals and an assist so far this season. She joins Cari Roccaro as the second freshman with a multiple-goal game during Notre Dame's eight-game unbeaten streak heading into the second weekend in October.
