Until a second quarter touchdown by the Cardinal, the Irish had not trailed at all during their 6-0 start to the 2012 season. In its first real test of The No. 7-ranked playing with adversity, Notre Dame passed in impressive fashion. The Irish emerged from the halftime locker room trailing by a touchdown and twice erased score- RED ZONE EFFICIENCY (INSIDE 20-YARD LINE) Notre Dame 4 Stanford 4 Notre Dame Poss. He fumbled four times and lost three of them. But Kelly resisted the urge to go to his bull- pen before a head injury sacked Golson for the remainder of the game. The first-year starter rewarded his coach by regaining his poise in time to tie the game in the fourth quarter and at least start the march to- ward a last-minute scor- ing drive.
