Y . | The regular season will tip o6 10 days earlier when Campbell visits the Bryce Jordan Center, but the date that most fans likely circled when Penn State announced its nonconference schedule a few months ago was Nov. 20. That's when the Nittany Lions will travel to the Barclays Center – home of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets – to face in-state rival Pitt in the semi5nals of the Legends Classic tournament. The Panthers and Lions will be playing the second game of a doubleheader that begins at 7 p.m. when Texas A&M faces Oklahoma State. They've met 147 times over the years, with Penn State holding a 75-72 edge. But this will be only the second time the teams have faced each other at a neutral site. That other neutral-site game took place last De- cember at the Never Forget Classic in Newark, N.J. Pitt prevailed, 81-73, a7er holding o6 a second-half comeback during which the Lions trimmed a 24-point de5cit down to 5ve with just under two minutes le7. Sheldon Jeter hit a 3-pointer for Pitt to bring an end to Penn State's comeback bid, but the Lions return all 5ve starters from that game, including Mike Watkins, who 5nished with 17 points and 15 rebounds. So there's reason to believe that PSU's return to the New York metro area will be more satisfying than its previous visit. – M.H.
