TOO HOT TO HANDLE
A scorching offense helps PSU leave the Arizona desert with a win
Inspired by a handful of agonizing come-from-
ahead losses the past two seasons, Penn State
coach James Franklin has talked a lot about the
need to develop a finisher's mentality.
On Saturday, the Nittany Lions finished off
Washington, thanks in large part to their refusal to
let their Fiesta Bowl opponent finish off their pos-
sessions. Facing the top defense in the Pac-12 and
one of the best in the country, Penn State con-
verted 13 of 17 third-down attempts, an astonish-
ing performance that helped negate three
turnovers and allowed the Lions to escape with a
35-28 victory.
It was the Nittany Lions' seventh Fiesta Bowl win
