UNDER THE DOME Orange Futures its first direct ties with a top-tier bowl game official last week. The Irish are one of a trio of partners that will play the Atlantic Coast Con- ference champion each year in the Orange Bowl. Notre Dame, along Notre Dame made with the Big Ten and the Southeastern Con- ference, agreed to terms with the ACC about how they would fill the other slot for the bowl, which will be held annu- ally in primetime Dec. 31 or Jan. 1 each year. The top-ranked team from that conglomerate that isn't already com- mitted to another bowl game will be headed to Miami.
