WHAT HE DID A three year-starter,
Shorter caught 112 passes for 1,822 yards
and 21 touchdowns in his career. As a
senior, he had 36 catches for 522 yards
and seven touchdowns, and he added 322
yards and four TDs on the ground. The
year before, he racked up the biggest re-
ceiving totals of his career, ;nishing with
45 catches for 718 yards and six TDs. He
was a focal point of opposing defenses
those last two seasons, thanks to a soph-
omore campaign in which he caught 31
passes for 582 yards (18.8 yards per
catch). Shorter helped his team to an
NJSIAA Central Group 5 championship
in 2015, as South Brunswick defeated Old
Bridge, 42-0, in the ;nal. The Vikings
did it again in Shorter's senior year, beat-
ing Manalapan, 18-14. He recorded 86
yards and a touchdown in the state
championship game.
WHAT HE WON Shorter earned ;rst-
team All-Metro and All-State honors in
2017 and was also named Player of the
Year in the Greater Middlesex Confer-
ence. A ;ve-star prospect according to
Rivals.com, he is considered the best
overall player in New Jersey for the Class
of 2018, the third-best wide receiver na-
tionally and the No. 18 player overall. He
was chosen to play in the Under Armour
All-America Game, and it was his per-
formance in the practice sessions lead-
ing up to the game that boosted him
from four- to ;ve-star status. "Shorter
will de;nitely give defensive backs
headaches in the red zone because of
that size, catch radius, and his reliable
hands," Rivals Mid-Atlantic recruiting
analyst Adam Friedman observed.
