WHAT HE DID Levis earned the starting nod at Xavier as a sophomore, but he su>ered an injury in his =rst game, forc- ing him to miss much of the year. He ul- timately led the Falcons to a 10-10 record in Tier 1 of the highly competitive Southern Connecticut Conference dur- ing his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, he threw for 2,793 yards, with 27 touchdowns and eight interceptions, and added six rushing TDs. His yardage and touchdown totals last year were the best in school history. WHAT HE WON Levis was an All-Con- ference selection and a second-team Walter Camp All-State choice following his senior season. In addition, he was named to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association's Top 25 list. An excellent student with a 4.0 GPA, he earned a three-star rating from Rivals.com and is the 30th-ranked quar- terback nationally and second-ranked player in Connecticut in the Class of 2018. WHERE HE VISITED Earning more than 20 scholarship o>ers, Levis jumped onto the scene following his junior season. But it wasn't until the following summer that he really blew up. Last June, he at- tended camps at Florida State, North Carolina and Iowa, earning o>ers from all three programs. Justin Fields backed out of his commitment to Penn State that same month, prompting the sta> to invite Levis to their Whiteout camp in July. He earned an o>er that night and committed to the Nittany Lions the following morning before heading home. Former PSU o>ensive recruiting co- ordinator Josh Gattis was im- pressed with Levis's maturity. "When you talk to him, you're amazed with every conversa- tion you have with him," Gattis said. "It says a lot about Will." QUOTABLE Levis: "I love being a quar- terback. I love being a leader. You can be a leader at any position, but I think quarterback is truly the o>ensive leader." PHIL'S TAKE Levis is listed as a pro- style quarterback by Rivals, but when he attended Penn State's camp last July, he proved to the sta> that he has athleti- cism to run the Nittany Lions' RPO of- fense. During that camp, he showed the ability to throw from inside the pocket and also while rolling out. He has a quick release and a powerful arm and is capa- ble of making all the throws in Penn State's spread o>ense. When Fields backed out of his commitment to the Lions and ended up at Georgia instead, Levis became one of the most important o>ensive signings in Penn State's Class of 2018. ■ PASSING GRADE In addition to being the second-ranked prospect in Con- necticut, Levis has a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the Na- tional Honor Soci- ety.
