Starters show their mettle in a largely unrevealing spring game
Looks like the scouting report was pretty accu-
rate.
Throughout spring practice, coaches and players
had hailed the steady development of Penn State's
young receivers and its offensive line, contending
that those players will have key roles in helping the
Nittany Lions overcome the loss of some of the top
playmakers in the program's history.
The Blue-White Game on Saturday offered evi-
dence that that will indeed be the case.
On the Blue's first possession, Mac Hippenhammer
caught two passes, including a 5-yard scoring toss
from Trace McSorley. The redshirt freshman fin-
ished his debut performance in Beaver Stadium with
four catches for 43 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
