little difficult, but its also something I can brag about. Taking a little verbal abuse from Ohio State fans isnt likely to stop the stream of commitments going north. The players have become accustomed to the taunting, and they know the experience will pay off when they get a chance to face the Buckeyes back in their home state. Coming down from Ann Arbor and playing in The Horseshoe, especially because so many Ohio kids are going up to Michigan, I dont think its a statement until we get on the field, Bolden said, but its going to be a great experience. The Perfect Storm Of course, Hokes passion for the Michigan program and his Ohio roots though theyve played a role in his staffs recruiting success arent the only factor in Michigans resurgence in the Buckeye State. Thanks to a cash-for-memorabilia scandal (and tattoos for memorabilia, and golf for nothing, and ) in Columbus, the Buckeyes have taken a big hit in the eyes of recruits. Tressel is no longer in charge of the Ohio State football program, and several Buckeyes have missed multiple games this season including quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who left for the NFL to avoid the wrath of the NCAA. Ohio State has struggled to a 3-3 record early in the year, and more trouble from the NCAA could be on the way. Hoke and his staff, however, de- serve plenty of credit for being able to capitalize on the opportunity in front of them. The Wolverines have even gotten an early start recruiting the 2013 class out of Ohio. Alliance Marlington safety Dymonte Thomas an admitted lifelong Ohio State fan picked Michigan in September, following a visit for the Wolverines night game victory over Notre Dame. Though the 6-1, 195-pound defensive back didnt hold an offer from the Buckeyes, he is expected to be one of the states top prospects in the 2013 class. Hoke and his coaching staff have made their name recruiting in Ohio during their time at Michigan, and theyll continue building on that success in the future. Michigan Signees From Ohio Since 2002 Prospect Willis Barringer Mark Bihl 2002 Pos.
