michigan in the pros Its never fun being out of the lineup, but at the same time its good the team is winning and all of our defensemen are playing really well right now, Hunwick told the Denver Post in late October. I think its a good problem for us to have, but unfortunately for me Im out of the lineup. If nothing else, it gives me a chance to work on some things, get better, and, hopefully when the time is right, Ill get back. The 5-11, 190-pound Hunwick has been a victim of a change in philosophy. The Avalanche want to get bigger on the blue line and have upgraded in that area, playing four defensemen who weigh over 230 pounds. Hunwick said hed be ready if or when the coaches called his number. Right now were doing a pretty good job of moving the puck Im a little bit different than the other guys. Im smaller and can use my speed, Hunwick said. The team has options. You want to be covered in all areas. Avalanche coach Joe Sacco told the Post Hunwick was handling his demotion well. I talked to Matty. Hes got a good attitude, Sacco said. Hes got to make the best out of a situation that isnt very positive for him individually. But he understands that and has a good attitude, and works very hard in practice. Hes keeping it straight. NHL Player Updates Through games of Oct. 31 Mike Brown (Played at U-M from 2004-05), LW, Toronto Maple Leafs: Has recorded one goal and two assists and notched 12 shots on goal in 11 games played Stands plus-two for the year. Mike Cammalleri (2000-02), LW, Montreal Canadiens: Has recorded three goals and two assists in eight games played Stands minus-two with 27 shots on goal and two gamewinning goals. Andrew Cogliano (2005-07), C, Anaheim Ducks: Has recorded one goal and one assist through 11 games played Stands plus-two with 14 shots on goal. Mike Comrie (1999-2000), C, Free Agent: Has yet to sign with a new team after being released by Pittsburgh. Andrew Ebbett (2003-06), C, Defenseman Steve Kampfer notched one assist and was plus-two while seeing action in two games during the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins 3-7 start this season.
