������ inside michigan athletics ������ Student-Athlete Of The Month Junior Hockey Player Lee Moffie When told that he had been given All-Academic Big Ten honors, Lee Moffie smiled and had one thought. ���My mom is going to be pretty proud of me,��� the junior defenseman said. ���Academics have always been really important in our family, so I try to take it pretty seriously.��� Now that the Wolverines are in the full swing of the 201112 schedule, Moffie says this is actually the time of year he finds his grades the highest. ���It���s actually easier in season than out of season,��� Moffie said. ���You���re more structured. You pick a time: practice here, then go to the [Stephen Ross] Academic Center here, and you get into a schedule. The A.C. is awesome,. I���m over there all the time.��� That structured schedule has helped him focus on the ice, too. Moffie ranked second on the team in plus/minus through Oct. 28, with a plus-11 rating, and he had posted one goal and five assists on the offensive end. Last year, Moffie decided to major in history. He said he took a few classes in the department with fellow teammates, and those were always his favorites. Moffie, a sixth-round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2010 NHL Draft, said he has ���no idea��� what he wants to do professionally when his hockey career ends. ���I���ve always liked history, and I like traveling,��� Moffie said. ���It���s nice to learn about different places around the world. Hopefully when hockey���s done I���ll get a chance to travel a little bit. That would be nice.��� This year, Moffie decided to add a concentration in Italian. Although he doesn���t have any prior experience with the Italian language, Moffie is picking it up quickly. I���d like to go to Rome, and it���d be nice to be able to communicate when I do.��� ��� Andy Reid ������ Getting To Know Hockey Assistant Coach Brian Wiseman A former All-American during his skating career with the Michigan hockey team from 1991-94, Brian Wiseman returned to Ann Arbor in June to become an assistant coach for Red Berenson. On his playing days: ���My whole experience was very memorable. It was a tremendous time for me. We had a very large group, my classmates, but we were very close and still remain close.��� Favorite Restaurant: ���I would have to say Cottage Inn has always been a favorite of mine, even going back to my playing days, and eating pregame and postgame meals there. And my family has taken An All-American during his Michigan hockey playquite a liking to it as well. But just getting up through campus, we took an early tour on a Friday night before one of the football games, and the atmosphere was incredible.
