DECEMBER 2018 27 The eighth Annual VAF 40-year Mile- stone Celebration was held the week- end of November 9th and 10th surrounding the Virginia football game versus Liberty. The celebration, which honored all VAF members who reached their 40th anniversary for consecutive years of giving in 2017, featured a dinner on that Friday evening at Morven Farms and an on-field recognition at the football game on Saturday. To begin the festivities, honorees enjoyed a cocktail reception with Carla Williams and sur - prise performance by the Virginia Gentlemen prior to dinner. Afterwards, the formal program opened with Dirk Katstra introducing baseball student-athlete Chesdin Harrington who shared highlights about his journey in choosing UVA, hav- ing an incredible student-athlete experience and making decisions for his future. He also thanked the donors for giving him such rewarding op- portunities and shared how excited he is for the baseball park to have undergone impressive reno- vations as Virginia Athletics begins another re- markable project with the Master Plan campaign that will significantly impact all programs. Dirk Katstra led the rest of the evening thanking the donors for their longtime support, taking a look back at Virginia Athletics over the past 40 years with entertaining athletics and worldly fact trivia and providing Virginia Athletics updates. To thank our honorees, donors received a com - memorative gift and were recognized on-field the next day at the Liberty game.
