28 CAVALIER CORNER The annual VAF All-Sports Reunion was held the weekend of October 12-14 in Charlottesville. Over 300 UVA student-athlete alumni and their guests attended events and games throughout the weekend. Each reunion, the Virginia Athlet - ics Foundation honors ACC and NCAA championship teams who reach their 10-, 25- and 40-year milestone anniversaries. This year, all of the anniversary teams were recognized on Hoo Vision during the Miami vs. UVA football game. 10-year anniversary (2008): Men's Cross Country ACC Women's Lacrosse ACC Rowing ACC Men's Swimming & Diving ACC Women's Swimming & Diving ACC Men's Tennis ACC 25-year anniversary (1993): Women's Basketball ACC Women's Lacrosse NCAA Men's Soccer ACC & NCAA The weekend was full of memo - rable events. There were several sport specific home competitions, alumni games, open practices, facil- ity tours, receptions and gatherings for alumni to reconnect with team members and coaches. In addition to the sport specific activities, larger events included a variety of special occa- sions and celebrations. A Virginia Athletics Campaign event was held at Farmington where Carla Williams presented information about the Master Plan to donors featuring guest speakers President Ryan, Chris Long, Tony Bennett and Bronco Mendenhall. Also in attendance were many notable student-athlete alumni including Heath Miller, Ralph Sampson, Meg Long, Her - man and Shawn Moore, as well as former coaches Bruce Arena and Debbie Ryan and several current coaches. Carla provided the same presentation to student-athlete alumni who were in town for the reunion. Athletics coordinated a ground breaking for the new softball facility as head coach Jo Hardin, her staff, student-athletes, alumni and generous donors Lisa and Fran Palmer excitedly put shovels in the ground at the new location below Klöckner Stadium. VAF and Virginia Athletics provided all alumni with complimentary tickets to the Miami vs. UVA football game and hosted a pregame tailgate. A bonus activity added late to the schedule was the Pepsi Blue/White Scrimmage with the Virginia Men's and Women's Basketball teams. VAF enjoyed hosting such a fun weekend and is appreciative of our Cavs for Life for their commitment to Virginia Athletics. event recap All-Sports Reunion 2018 HOMECOMINGS TAILGATE 2018 October 13, 2018
