The event will pit the top American collegiate golfers against an international squad and will take place from June 7-9. Men's soccer junior forward Jack Hallahan: On Nov. 27, he was recognized as one of 15 semifinalists for the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the most prestigious award in college soccer and given annually to the most outstanding male and female players. Hallahan com- peted in all 21 matches this season, and was pegged as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and a unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten first team. He racked up 24 points in 2018, becoming just the fifth player in Michigan history to reach the 20-point plateau in consecutive seasons (he compiled 24 last year). The winner of the award will be revealed Jan. 4 in St. Louis. Volleyball senior outside hitter Carly Skjodt: She was honored as the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week Nov. 26, marking her third weekly honor in 2018 from the league. Skjodt helped lead the Wolverines to wins over Northwestern and Michigan State Nov. 21 and Nov. 24, respec- tively, averaging 4.29 kills per set and 3.0 digs per set against the two foes. The senior also paced the club with four service aces and picked up a double-double (19 kills and 12 digs) in a 3-1 victory over the Spartans in the regular-season finale Nov. 24. Ice hockey junior forward Jake Slaker: He was declared the Big Ten Second Star of the Week Nov. 20 after posting four points on two goals and two assists in Michigan's split at No. 5 Penn State Nov. 16-17. He first registered two goals and an assist in the Wolverines' 6-4 win over the Nittany Lions in the first clash of the series, before posting another assist in a 7-6 over- time loss Nov. 17. The accolade is the third weekly honor of Slaker's career. Women's basketball senior center Hallie Thome: On Nov. 20, she was tabbed as a candidate for the 2019 Wade Trophy, which is given annually to the best player in women's collegiate basketball. As of Dec. 10, Thome led the Maize and Blue in points per contest, with 13.0, and ranked second with a 5.7 rebound average. The award's official website lists the honor as the "oldest and most prestigious national player of the year award" in women's NCAA basketball. — Austin Fox
