Michael Deeb Becomes A Lead Story By Lou Somogyi On National Signing Day, it wasn't a surprise that the first fax to arrive in Notre Dame's football office (7:07 a.m. EST) was from inside linebacker Michael Deeb. "I never go into something to be second," Deeb said. "I'm aware that doesn't always happen, but that doesn't change the way I prepare. My dad always taught me, 'Be a leader and not a follower.' I've never been a shy kid." Therein is one reason why Deeb could someday be the quarterback of the Notre Dame defense at the Mike position, which demands a figure who is vocal and confident in his own skin and with his skills. "I try to rub off on other people and try to have them follow my lead," Deeb admitted.
