Mission Statement The Virginia Athletics Foundation, through its fundraising efforts, strives to support a preeminent intercollegiate athletics program at the University of Virginia by providing student- athletes the opportunity to achieve academic and athletic excellence. Virginia Athletics Foundation P.O. Box 400833 Charlottesville, VA 22904-4833 (434) 982-5555 | (800) 626-8723 (434) 982-5025 FAX www.VirginiaAthleticsFoundation.com Dear Cavalier Fans, We have just completed another successful spring social season during which a majority of the events sold out. We are grateful that there is so much enthusiasm for our coaches and student-athletes. With a fundraising goal of $19 million for 2019, the Annual Fund is always a critical component of our overall success and is responsible for the majority of our scholarship expense. The Athletics Master Plan, a $180 mil- lion campaign, will create the space for student-athletes to develop into the high caliber of academic and athletic excellence synonymous with Virginia Athletics. Changes have already begun to the Athletics Precinct, seen in the demolition of the Cage and Onesty Hall and the implosion of University Hall to make way for natural grass practice fields. Finally, the athletics department hosted the Hoos Choice Awards in May at which all of our endowed scholarship recipients were named. We now have 80 endowed scholarships and our goal is to one day endow all 316 scholarships. You can view all recipients by visiting our website. The highlight each year is always Final Exercises held on the Lawn. This year 146 student-athletes completed their degrees and walked the Lawn. If you have yet to make your pledge for 2019, we encourage you to do so. It is helpful in our budget planning to record donor com- mitments early in the year. In addition, your $100 or more pledge for 2019 ensures you will continue receiving the Cavalier Corner for the remainder of the year. We are appreciative of the continued support of donors who help create the very best academic and athletics experience possible. Graduation weekend is always a great reminder of the significance of donor contributions in creating a student-athlete experience that will last a lifetime. Best regards, Dirk P.
