hoo's talking "Steve Fairchild is a coach that has been at a number of places and has had a great deal of success. He has been a head coach, he has worked in the NFL, and he has been a coordinator at the collegiate and professional levels. He is known as a solid recruiter, and when he was at Colorado State they had the highest-ranked recruiting class in that institution's history. We are excited to have Steve join the program, and it is one more step to help us move forward." — Virginia executive associate athletics director Jon Oliver on the hiring of new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Steve Fairchild, a coaching veteran of 31 years (16 as an offensive coordinator) "We got off to a wonderful start on Thursday and carried that momentum into the rest of the meet. We won a couple of events on Friday and had a bunch of top-three finishes. We had a bunch of top-time performances, and what's pretty cool about this team is that there is only one senior on the scoring team." — Head women's swimming and diving coach Mark Bernardino, whose team captured a sixth straight ACC Championship Feb. 23 (fourth-year Lauren Perdue was named the ACC Championships' Most Outstanding Swimmer for the third time in her career) "I am so proud of this team and what they accomplished this week. During the last two matches, there were times where we kind of had our backs against the wall and we handled the adversity well. Every guy played a role and stepped up when the team needed them. This is another stepping stone for our program, to win another National Indoor championship. We now have to get ready for the outdoor season and continue to get better to accomplish the goals this team has for itself." — Men's tennis head coach Brian Boland after the No. 1 Cavaliers knocked off No. 2 USC in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, marking the program's fifth such title in the last six years Your uVA Spring SportS HeAdQuArterS 2013 UVa Football Schedule 2013 LAX FAN SHIRT ONLY $12.99 2013 BASEBALL FAN SHIRT ONLY $12.00 W W W.
