Previously, recruits had to make campus visits or call the coaches directly, and the Irish coaches were not able to make calls or send text messages to recruits. With the Notre Dame staff being able to reach out to recruits, look for recruiting in the 2021 class to gain even more steam this fall and pick up where the Irish left off in the summer. Notre Dame has five commitments in the 2021 class. • On Aug. 26, Pittsburgh Central Catholic class of 2021 defensive tackle Elliot Donald announced the top eight schools in his recruitment, and the Fighting Irish made the cut for the four-star prospect. The other seven were LSU, Michi- gan, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M and West Virginia. Rivals ranks the 6-3, 255-pound Donald ranks as the No. 4 recruit in Pennsylvania, and the No. 6 defensive tackle and No. 78 overall player in the 2021 class. • Rivals updated its rankings for the 2021 class in late August, and three Notre Dame commits remained in the new Rivals 100. Avon (Ind.) High of- fensive tackle Blake Fisher took a small slide from No. 14 to No. 17 overall nationally, La Jolla (Calif.) Bishop's quarterback Tyler Buchner fell 13 spots to the No. 65 and St. Peters (Mo.) Lutheran of St. Charles defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio dropped five spots to No. 86. In this rankings update, the first Rivals 250 for this class was unveiled and included Notre Dame's two other committed prospects. Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Greg Crippen was listed as the No. 118 overall prospect and Hartwell (Ga.) Hart County tight end Cane Berrong checked in at No. 178. Notre Dame's 2021 class was listed No. 3 in the country as of Aug. 30. • Two of Notre Dame's key targets left on the 2020 board took official visits during the weekend of Aug. 31. Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty athlete Ramon Henderson, who is the No. 49 recruit in the state of California per Rivals, trav- eled to Oklahoma, while Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian School defensive back Collin Gamble, the nation's No. 51 cornerback according to Rivals, went to Cal. — Mike Singer Follow @BGI_MikeSinger on Twitter for daily recruiting updates!
