NOVEMBER 2019 THE WOLVERINE 61   MICHIGAN RECRUITING offers in hand from major programs like Duke, Louisville, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Purdue, West Virginia and Wisconsin. At 5-10, 178 pounds, Irving, who visited Michigan for the game against Notre Dame, is ranked as the No. 6 all- purpose back in the country by Rivals. Michigan also dipped into the state of Kansas, offering a duo out of Leawood (Kan.) Blue Valley North — 2022 safety Dasan McCullough and his brother, 2023 cornerback Daeh McCullough. Dasan is already listed at 6-4, 205 pounds, and it's very possible that he grows into a linebacker. He has the tools to be one of the best overall prospects in the country in his cycle. Meanwhile, Daeh is still young, but he is very talented for his age. Along with Michigan, Dasan also holds offers from Georgia, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, USC and several others. Daeh has early offers from Kentucky, Maryland, Rutgers and Massachusetts. The two brothers are the sons of Deland McCullough, who played running back in college at Miami (Ohio) back in the '90s. He is cur- rently the running backs coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, and coached run- ning backs at Indiana from 2011-16. U-M will likely offer more under- classmen as the season runs its course, and the page turns on the 2020 cycle. MICHIGAN MAKES TOP SCHOOLS LISTS With recruiting now on such an ac- celerated timeline, it seems like more and more underclassmen are starting to narrow their lists, and even make pledges, during their junior seasons. A few 2021 Michigan targets took to social media and announced their final schools over the last month, in- cluding Rivals100 offensive tackle Landon Tengwall out of Olney (Md.) Good Counsel. The four-star prospect named Michigan in his final three along with Notre Dame and Penn State. Tengwall visited Penn State for its game against Michigan and U-M for its game against Notre Dame. Michigan is very much in this race, but there is still some work to do. Penn State may have the overall edge, and Notre Dame was consid- ered the early favorite. Tengwall, the No. 8 offensive tackle and No. 54 overall player in the ju- nior class per Rivals, wants to take his time with his decision and plans to make official visits to all three schools in the spring before pulling the trigger. He is one of Michigan's most important targets for next cycle. Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal three- star outside linebacker/safety hybrid Bryce Steele made his first cut, releas- ing a list of 10 schools that included schools like Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Notre Dame. Steele, Rivals' No. 7 player in Vir- ginia and No. 20 outside linebacker in the country, has visited Michigan in the past and is expected to be back in Ann Arbor when the Wolverines take on Ohio State Nov. 30. Michigan is very high on the mind of Steele, and he has a great relation- ship with the coaching staff. How- ever, he likes both Ohio State and Penn State as well as schools closer to home like North Carolina, North Carolina State and South Carolina. Lastly, Duncanville (Texas) four- star linebacker Kendrick Blackshire announced a top 13. Michigan made the list and is looking to make a move with the No. 4 inside linebacker and No. 121 player nationally in the ju- nior class according to Rivals. Buzz is that Blackshire will stay closer to home, and schools like LSU, Oklahoma and Texas have made big impressions on him. However, Mich- igan offered early, and it a program he has always been intrigued by. ❏ Landon Tengwall of Olney (Md.)
