Canada explained. "If you look at what the
offense has been at each place that I've been,
we have used our talent well. What we did at
Wisconsin, we ran the football a lot, we had
to do that based on certain situations, and we
did it very well.
"At Northern Illinois, when I was there two
years ago, we went fast and did the things we
did. At Indiana, we threw it a lot. I think when
you look at this offense, we'll use our talent,
and that's what we said we're going to do.
We're going to be a no-huddle, we're going
to go fast at times, but we just want to score
points, and whatever we have to do to do that,
that's what we're going to do."
The players are confident that the new
style of attack will benefit the offense, but
they are also aware that it means they must
get in optimum shape before the fall. Many
will admit they know that they aren't there
yet, but the spring gave them a good indication of where they need to get, in order to be
successful.
"We're not close to being conditioned to
run the offense right now," redshirt junior
running back Tony Creecy said. "Once we
keep plugging away at it with summer workouts then fall camp, we'll be ready for it by
the time we play Louisiana Tech.
"I think it will work to our benefit. By the
third or fourth quarter, I think we're going to
be knocking the defense back from them being so tired and us being in shape." ■
