Official Visits In sports other than men's basketball, a prospective student-athlete (recruit) is allowed to have an expense-paid visit (official visit) beginning on the opening day of classes of his or her senior year in high school. In men's basketball, a recruit may take an official visit beginning January 1st of his junior year in high school. A prospective student-athlete may take a maximum of five (5) official visits, with not more than one (1) permitted to any single institution. An official visit shall not exceed 48 hours from the time the prospective student-athlete arrives on NC State's campus to the time he or she departs NC State's campus. While on an official visit a prospective student-athlete may be provided: •Transportation to and from the institutions campus (Men's basketball may provide transportation for parents/legal guardians). •Reasonable lodging in the locale (30-mile radius) of the institution. •Meals, not to exceed three (3) per day, plus a reasonable snack (pizza, hamburger). •Three (3) complimentary admissions to an institution's home athletic contest (30-mile radius of the institution). Five (5) complimentary admissions for non-traditional families. During an official visit, recruits may not be provided: • Complimentary admissions to conference championships or other postseason competitions (i.e., bowl games, NCAA Tournament). • Excessive official visit benefits (i.e., limousine transportation, hotel suites). Furthermore, an institution and those representing the institution may not publicize a recruit's official visit. Also, boosters of the institution are not permitted to have any contact with recruits or their family members. In the spirit of helping NC State maintain a culture of compliance we ask our donors or supporters to refrain from creating products (i.e., posters, shirts, etc.) that would make a recruit's official visit public, and from contacting recruits or family members while on their official visit. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Compliance Office. "Ask Before You Act" by contacting NC State Athletic Compliance directly.
