"That's what I'm so proud of, that year in and year out, regardless of the results, everyone in the program is looking for ways to get better." Bresky said that approach makes a difference when you go into every match with a target on your back. "Obviously the consistency to be able to do it year in and year out, match in and match out, and knowing every time out, in nonconference play but especially in ACC play, everyone is going to come gunning for you," Bresky explained. "Being able to handle that pressure the way Virginia does and responding the way they do is key." Another component of UVa's success is that Boland has also been able to consistently draw the best talent in the nation to Charlottesville to play tennis for the Hoos. "Brian has proven in the last several years that he's certainly capable of recruiting the best players in the country," Bresky noted. "When you look at his track record and the type of kids, bringing in the top-10 kids every year and they have high expectations for themselves and they know what the goals of the program are." Different players and different coaches have all been a part of the program's success over the streak, but the one constant has been Boland. Former Cavalier Houston Barrick, a four-year starter at Virginia and two-time team captain, posted a 60-0 record in the ACC over his four seasons at Virginia.
