internship, my responsibilities do not change, rather they grow and build off of each other. Each new piece of information or skill that I learn immediately translates into the next thing that I do and ultimately allows me to have a better understanding of how the Foundation functions. It has been fascinating to work in every facet of the VAF and understand, firsthand, how each person's contributions are imperative to the growth and success of Virginia athletics. My pride for this University and its athletics department has grown even more since the day I walked down the lawn as a graduate. My gratitude and appreciation for the donors who commit themselves each year to the student-athletes is endless. The more time that passes since the last game I played wearing the Virginia uniform, I humbly realize just how much this University has given me and continues to give me. So, I finish with a phrase we say often here at the office, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart, with every ounce of my orange and blue pride — thank you VAF donors, we truly cannot do it without you. — Chelsea Shine Lynn Roach Retires After many years of dedicated service, Lynn Roach announced her retirement at the end of April. She began her career with the University of Virginia in the regional development office in 1996. Two years later, she joined the Athletics Capital Campaign for Scott Stadium. In 2002, the Virginia Athletics Foundation and the Athletics Capital Campaign merged and Lynn assumed the role of office administrator for the Foundation. Lynn was a thoughtful and conscientious member of the administrative support team and had the opportunity to work alongside many members of the VAF development team as well as our suites and events team. She served in a key role as the Foundation's in-house expert for database management and reporting. Please join us as we wish Lynn the very best in her new journey. She has certainly earned the opportunity to spend more time with her family and grandchildren. Margaret Fisher Joins VAF Staff The VAF welcomed Margaret Fisher as the newest member of the staff on April 17. She is responsible for providing donor customer service and administrative support for members of the development team. She coordinates men's basketball ticketing and parking for the Foundation, and is involved with database management and reporting functions. Margaret, originally from Raleigh, N.C., graduated from Randolph Macon College in 2008 where she was an All-Academic women's lacrosse player. Prior to joining the VAF staff, she served as an event specialist in Test Center Planning for CFA Institute in Charlottesville.
