commitment profile Film Evaluation Strengths: The bare minimum requirement for a high-level offensive lineman is size. Bushell-Beatty has plenty of that, standing at least 6-5 and weighing in near 300 pounds with another whole year of high school ball to go. With that size comes power, and Bushell-Beatty plows through hapless defenders on his film. He also shows a willingness to move his feet to reach proper blocking angles, and has a quick punch in run blocking that prevents defensive players from getting penetration early. Areas Of Improvement: As is often the case with inexperienced offensive linemen, Bushell-Beatty has some easy aspects of his game to improve. First is overall strength. Though he has good lower-body drive, he doesn't have the power in his upper body to knock defensive players backwards without leaning and losing his ability to recover for better leverage. Bushell-Beatty also shows inexperience in his footwork, and the level of competition he faces is also a question mark. Only so much can be gleaned on film when a 300-pounder is blocking defensive linemen half his size. Michigan Player Comparison: Mike Kolodziej was never a star at Michigan from 2002‑06, but was a very important piece on some good offensive lines. He would have had a bigger role had he not been passed by NFL first-rounder Jake Long, and suffered through injuries during his career. Bushell-Beatty has a chance to reach the full potential. — Analysis from TheWolverine.com
