Major League Baseball Struggling J.J. Putz Goes To 15-Day Disabled List Arizona manager Kirk Gibson gave former Michigan pitcher J.J. Putz a vote of confidence even after Putz blew his fourth save of the year in early May. "Not right now," Gibson told the Arizona Republic. "We just lost the game. He feels as bad as anybody. I'm aware of the blown saves. Given that, we've battled back pretty good, and I actually thought we'd come back and at least tie it up and win the game later." Putz was forced to leave a May 7 win over Dodgers in the ninth inning after feeling stiffness in his right elbow. He walked the first batter he faced on four straight pitches before exiting the game. "We're going to go see the doctor tomorrow and go figure out what it is," Putz said. "I didn't know what it was, and then after it happened two more times, I thought I probably should say something. "The hardest thing is just not knowing what it is. I've never felt anything like it before." Putz went to the 15-day disabled list but will not require surgery, the Republic reports.
