inside michigan athletics coach Carol Hutchins has always had high expectations for her freshmen, but have you been surprised at how much success you've had? Romero: "I really didn't have any expectations when I came in. I definitely knew that I wasn't going to come here and play like a freshman. I wasn't going to play scared. I was going to play like I have played my whole life. Hutch talked to me, and she said, 'Do what you do best, and the game doesn't know you're a freshman or a senior.' That's what I did. I just played softball, and I had fun. That was the outcome, and it was great. The Wolverine: The Big Ten Tournament didn't turn out the way you would have hoped, but how excited are you to play in the NCAA Tournament? Romero: "Oh my goodness, I am so excited. It's crazy to think that it's finally here. The season — my whole freshman year, really — went by so fast. It's crazy that I will finally get to play in a tournament that I have watched on TV my whole life." The Wolverine: As a freshman, are you nervous to play in your first one? Romero: "I wouldn't say nervous. Just excited. Of course, you always get those butterflies when you walk on the field, but I'm more pumped up than anything. I can't wait. It's something I have waited for my whole life, so I'm going to embrace it and have fun." The Wolverine: How far do you think the team can go? Romero: "We really don't focus on that. Our focus right now is Valpo. We have to take it one game at a time, because you can't get caught up in things. You have to cherish the moment." — Andy Reid TheWolverine.com's Facebook Feed Michigan fans can find The Wolverine on Facebook at: Facebook.com/ TheWolverineMagazine. This month we asked followers whether the decision by Brady Hoke to reactivate but redshirt senior punter Will Hagerup for the 2013 season was the right call. William Campbell: "Doesn't matter what we think, it's Coach Hoke's decision to decide what's right for the program." Christian Felan: "Sorry, but they need to let him go. He's had more than enough chances." Daniel Clark: "Coach Hoke is showing the Michigan way." Marc Williams: "Integrity and accountability. Nothing else needs to be said." Tim Cuniff: "Being a Michigan football player is an awesome privilege and with that comes great responsibility. Everyone screws up but once again his actions have hurt the Team."
