Just the fact that it was played and completed amid the COVID-19 pan- demic was a victory in itself, and a testament to dedication, fortitude, vigilance, and also good fortune. In addition, much pride could be taken at Notre Dame with a second appearance over the past three years in the four-team College Football Playoff, a first-ever full conference season in the sport, and the conquest of a No. 1-ranked team (Clemson) for the first time in 27 years.
