22 ■ THE WOLFPACKER
BY MATT CARTER
isitors of the Willis R. Casey
Aquatic Center on NC State's
campus will see plaques on
one end of the pool honoring
the Wolfpack's vast history in
the sport. One includes all the
NC State swimmers and divers that have
won NCAA championships.
"Every day we go to training at the pool,
and we see [it] on the walls," junior Sophie
Hansson noted.
Hansson also had another observation that
stems from the fact that all but one national ti-
tle won for the NC State swimming and diving
program have been from the men's side. The
exception is when Kristin Davies, in 2009,
won the championship in the platform dive.
There had been nine men to win an in-
dividual national championship, and four
relay teams captured gold, too.
"We are always like, 'Let's get some girls
on the wall,'" Hansson stated.
Mission accomplished.
