50 THE WOLVERINE OCTOBER 2021   PREP PROFILES Dante Moore is continuing to make his case as the best quarterback in the country in the 2023 recruiting class. The Rivals100 signal-caller has al- ready thrown for more than 1,000 yards in just three games this season. He put on a show in the biggest game of the year in the Midwest so far when he threw five touchdowns and led Detroit King to a thrilling win over local rival Cass Tech. "It was a great game," Moore said. "It's a great feeling to beat your rival. It was tough with Deone Walker, Jackson Pruitt and Jalen Thompson on the de- fensive line. I had to get the ball out as fast as I could. "Overall, it was a competitive game. We knew we couldn't lose at home. King is the king of the city." Just a day after the big win, Moore made his way over to Ann Arbor to see Michigan in its prime-time matchup against Washington. While Moore has been to Michigan on numerous occasions, he was impressed with the atmosphere in The Big House and the Wolverines' dominant 31-10 victory. "The game environment was great," said Moore. "There were over 100,000 people there, and it was loud. It was a great team win for Michigan. "The run game was there. There wasn't much with the passing game. I guess Washington has great defen- sive backs, so it was hard to throw the ball." Michigan stuck to a run-heavy offen- sive game plan. In fact, Wolverine quar- terback Cade McNamara threw for just 44 yards, averaging a mere 2.9 yards per attempt. That's normally not enough to get quarterback recruits excited. Still, Moore, who is ranked as the No. 3 pro-style quarterback and No. 35 overall recruit nationally, understood it was part of the game plan and added that a strong running game can often be a quarterback's best friend. "As a quarterback, you want to throw the ball all game, but you also want to have a strong run game," Moore said. "Washington is a great zone and man team. They are going to make the pass- ing game hard. "When you have a good run game, it can open play action or deep balls over the top. Having a run game is probably the best thing for a quarterback." Moore will likely return to Michigan for at least one more game this fall. On his return trip, he has several things he would like to see. "Let the players keep being coach- able and have a winning season," he ex- plained. "Overall, I want to see Coach [Jim] Harbaugh win. The Ohio State game is the biggest game of the year. We'll see how that matchup goes." — EJ Holland Caleb Presley is leading a new team this fall. The 2023 Rivals100 cornerback re- cently transferred to Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach and was ruled eligible im- mediately. Presley played his first game for the "Beach Boys" and led them to a 33-0 blowout win over Mount Tahoma (Wash.) High. "It's been great at my new school," Presley said. "We came out here and got the win. Everything went to plan. We didn't give up any points on defense. We can be proud of that. We can give ourselves a pat on the back and get back to work." Along with getting adjusted to a new high school program, Presley has been extra busy with recruiting. Sept. 1 marked the first date college coaches were allowed to reach out to prospects in the 2023 class. Presley, who is ranked as the No. 9 cor- nerback and No. 74 overall prospect na- tionally, saw his phone light up with mes- sages from schools across the country. Now, he is in the process of mapping out fall visits. "Recruiting has been huge this off- season," Presley said. "I do want to make a couple of visits and go out to some games. I might go to LSU the first game. I'm just going over my schedule and seeing what's next with my plans." Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh offered Presley on the spot this sum- mer at the Wolverines' summer satellite camp in the Pacific Northwest. Harbaugh took full advantage of Sept. 1 and made sure to let Presley know that he's a priority for the next cycle. "Coach Harbaugh reached out and told me that he sees me as an athlete that he wants on his team," Presley said. "He definitely wants me to come down there for a game this season. He also told me to give 100 percent this season and just ball out. He's going to keep a close eye on me." While it's still early in the process, Presley said he has high interest in Michigan and is looking forward to making his first trip to Ann Arbor at some point in the near future. "Michigan was one of the first Big Ten schools to offer me," Presley said. "It's definitely a school to look into. I want to see it in person and meet the entire coaching staff. I look at the X's and O's; I want to learn more about the defense." Presley is a teammate of top 2022 Michigan offensive line target Josh Con- erly. Along with Michigan, Presley holds offers from Alabama, LSU, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, USC and others. — EJ Holland Detroit Quarterback Dante Moore Was Impressed By Big House Visit Seattle Cornerback Caleb Presley Has Interest In Michigan ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Martin Luther King Detroit Class: 2023 Position: Quarterback Ht.: 6-3 • Wt.: 199 Rivals Rankings: No. 3 pro-style quar- terback and No. 35 overall prospect in the country Dante Moore ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Rainier Beach Seattle Class: 2023 Position: Cornerback Ht.: 6-0 • Wt.: 175 Rivals Rankings: No. 9 cornerback and No. 74 overall prospect in the nation Caleb Presley
