The 6-5, 335-pound Prescod's final top five also included Georgia Tech, Missouri and Ole Miss. He had collected offers earlier in the process from Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Virginia and Vanderbilt, among others. Athlete Jaylen Samuels Charlotte Mallard Creek Sometimes a college's summer camp will unveil an unheralded prospect who is a great fit for the school's program. Such was the case for Samuels. He performed well while working out in an H-back role at NC State's camp June 10, was offered and then committed June 22. "I showed my abilities during one-onones," Samuels said. "I was winning almost everything. The coaches were saying they liked the fight in me. I just went out there and gave it my all, and got the offer." The 6-0, 225-pound Samuels ran the 40-yard dash at State's camp in around 4.5 seconds. During his career at Mallard Creek, he has played running back, wide receiver, tight end, linebacker and safety. He had also collected offers from Ball State, Bucknell, Charlotte, Elon, GardnerWebb and Georgia State. Rivals.com rates him as a two-star prospect. Offensive lineman Eric Shute Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West Shute is listed as a three-star recruit and the No. 30 player in the state of Illinois by Rivals.com. He had picked up offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Purdue, Syracuse and Virginia Tech, among others, but his visit to NC State in February always stuck with him. "When I look back, NC State was my leader from pretty early on, and I just decided that I had enough of looking around and that I was ready to make my decision," Shute told Rivals.com. The 6-5, 275-pounder is expected to play guard for NC State. He committed June 8. Running back Marcelias Sutton Warsaw (N.C.) James Kenan To put the standing broad jump in perspective, someone leaping more than nine feet is thought to be pretty good. Ten feet is thought to be excellent.
