■ basketball recruiting Wolfpack Continues Pursuit Of Leron Black NC State offered senior power forward Leron Black of Memphis (Tenn.) White Station High in June 2012, following the NBPA Camp, and a year later the recruiting relationship is full steam ahead. However, there were some bumps in the road. Black verbally committed to Baylor Sept. 17, 2012, but then re-opened his recruitment Jan. 3, 2013. NC State and others have made sure to let Black know he is wanted during the second stanza of his recruitment. Rivals.com lists the 6-6, 217-pound Black as the No. 22 player in the country, and he showed glimpses of why he's so highly ranked at the 2013 NBPA Camp June 12-15 at the University of Virginia. Black, who missed some time this spring with an ankle injury, opened the NBPA Camp with a bang. He exploded for 20 points and nine rebounds for his camp team (Mavericks), which also featured NC State senior wing commit Caleb Martin of Mocksville, N.C. Black averaged 8.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in helping the Mavericks finish runner-up at the camp, and cracked double figures in three of the seven contests. He admits he's "real close" to finally being 100 percent healthy from his high ankle sprain. "I can rebound good, and I'm versatile," Black said. "I can post-up and can go out on the wing and knock down shots, too." Black has been looking closely at eight colleges, but three more have been added to the mix with Louisville, Indiana and Arizona offering him recently. Black said he is interested in NC State, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Baylor, Flor- 4909 Western Boulevard, Suite 200 Raleigh, North Carolina 27606 Telephone: (919) 851-4696 Fax: (919) 859-5598 Offering a wide variety of services: Personal Accounting/Bookkeeping Non-Profit Organizations Partnerships Payroll Services Corporations Small Business Trusts Estate & Financial Planning Tax Planning Serving the community since 1966 www.jalucas.com IF YOUR HOME IS YOUR CASTLE, WE'RE YOUR KNIGHTS IN SHINING SERVICE VECHICLES.
