quick to add that he does not place much stock in that. "I care more about how they play and what their career looks like in four years than I do their stars today," Doeren said. "The thing I'll tell you about this group, they're a very tight-knit bunch of guys. They've all been committed, except for one of them [offensive lineman Jacar- rius Peak], for most of the season. "We've gotten to know each other. They're very mature, and [I've] been in almost all their homes. They come from really, really good backgrounds, fami- lies, coaching staffs. They understand us, we understand them. "I think there's a very good bond in this group and with our staff and this group." Doeren noted that this class fits the bill of the type of players that he and his staff have had success developing. "I think we have to be able to find guys that fit the measurables we want on the field and then be able to build them up," Doeren said. "Find guys that have the work ethic and intangibles to be developed. … They're going to come in here to battle and compete and be a good teammate and be selfless." ■ 7Signees that enrolled early: • Running back Michael Allen from Greenville (N.C.) Two were inked from Georgia, and one each from South Carolina and Virginia, the latter being Maryland transfer and receiver Darryl Jones.
