2022 BASKETBALL RECRUITING ISSUE

T
he transfer portal has made college basketball
and recruiting as predictable as spring weather in
Michigan. Coaches who once used to be able to
catch their breath in May are now often looking for
replacements for players leaving the program, sometimes on a
whim, thanks to the NCAA's "transfer without penalty" rule.
No longer do players need to sit out a year after they choose
to leave the program they've signed with, and it has led to
some interesting decisions.
