THIRD QUARTER MARSHALL 12, NOTRE DAME 7 Top Moment: Notre Dame had third- and-2 from its own 47-yard line. The Thun- dering Herd only had 4 passing yards, while Notre Dame had 69. Items: Notre Dame forced Marshall to kick a 20-yard field goal to go along with the 21-yard field goal the Herd had to settle for in the second quarter; if not for those red zone stops, Notre Dame would have been in even more trouble in the end … Buchner's best pass of the day was a 30-yard fade to Mayer that got an Irish drive going late in the quarter.
