"I don't know if he's the most talented guy in the country. It's not about just talent, though. It's about production and it's about your routine and how you go about your busi- ness and consistency." World Traveler Amor's on-field consistency stands in contrast to the ever-shifting scenery of his life away from the sport. He was born in the Netherlands to British parents, which is why he has UK citizenship. From there, the family moved to Rochester, N.Y., then to Doylestown, Pa., in Bucks County. Amor became a naturalized U.S. citizen, but then came a move to Switzer- land just as he was getting set to enroll at Colgate in 2017. Amor was still at Colgate when the pandemic began in March 2020. With his parents in Europe and travel bans in effect all over the world, he ended up living in Virginia with the parents of his girlfriend for the next year. Over time, the perpetual change opened Amor's mind to the value of new experiences. "When you're younger and your par- ents are moving, you're like, 'Oh, that stinks.' You're moving away from all your friends, and that's all you know," he said. "You never really know how it's going to turn out, so at the time it might seem bad. "Later on, though, it might seem great. When my parents were going to Swit- zerland, at first I was like, 'That stinks, I'm probably not going to see my parents that much.' But Switzerland is one of my favorite places that I've ever been to in my life. It's completely different in every way. It [left me with] an enjoy-the-journey, go-with-the-flow mentality." Sudden Success Amor's athletic journey has had a few twists of its own. Like a lot of special- ists, he started out playing soccer before giving football a try when his high school team needed a kicker. He showed early potential at Central Bucks East, but with his junior year looming, he wasn't sure whether he wanted to stick with it. "I tried to quit," he recalled.
