That's what they had in common with Dabo Swin- ney's Clemson Tigers. How they differed? The petals that were tracked onto the field stayed there long into the blus- tery South Bend night. The No. 4 Tigers trekked off of it as quickly as they could following a 35-14 upset loss to unranked Notre Dame. They had no business milling around the turf staged in the middle of the house that Knute Rockne built. They were out of place. The mums? Not by a long shot. As hundreds and thousands of blue, gold and green-clad Irish supporters trampled onto the field, Swinney and his guys trudged away from it. Notre Dame earned its second field-storming in as many home matchups vs. Clemson in the last three seasons. This one wasn't inhibited by a CO- VID-year capacity restriction.
