32 CAVALIER CORNER NCAA rules preclude the athletic department from assisting (directly or indirectly) a high school fundraise for its athletic program. For example, it's impermissible for the athletic department to donate athletic equip- ment to a high school or donate tick- ets, memorabilia or similar items that will be auctioned to financially sup- port an athletics program or team. If the athletic department receives a donation request that impacts a high school or a prospect, it will not be fulfilled. The athletic department, unfortunately, is restricted by NCAA rules on this issue. Boosters aren't necessarily re- stricted as much as the athletic department. Boosters may provide money to benefit a local high school athletics program in their community, as long as the action is independent of the athletic department, the dona- tion is provided through the normal fundraising avenue established by the high school (e.g., GoFundMe) and the donation isn't earmarked for a specific prospect.
