2023 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ISSUE 28 THE WOLVERINE MARCH 2023 BY EJ HOLLAND Evan Link had quite the adventure as a youth. Born in Seattle, Link moved from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego to the suburbs of Washington, D.C., to Italy and back to the DMV. It was one of the benefits of growing up in a military family. Unlike most kids his age, Link really got to see the world and gained a greater ap- preciation for life. "I had a really interesting childhood," he said. "I got to go around to a lot of differ- ent places and see a lot of different things. I was very, very fortunate. My parents made it a big deal to see everything while we were over there. "I remember going to Germany and the Vatican on weekends. They put me in front of as many cultures, cuisines and ways of life as they could. I especially en- joyed the food part." That shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, Link has blossomed into one of the top offensive line prospects in America while playing for powerhouse Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga. He signed with Michigan over a slew of major offers. Link was always a tall kid and knew he wanted to play football when he returned to the United States. His wish came true right as he was about to enter the fifth grade. "I remember we got home, visited some family in Ohio and immediately went over to football tryouts," Link said. "I wanted to play as soon as I got back. I always loved football. I remember having arguments in the second grade about the Seahawks until three in the morning because it was the only time I could watch the games over- seas." Link played offensive line right away and had a knack for putting defenders in Despite Strong Buckeye Ties, Offensive Lineman Evan Link Went Maize And Blue Link was rated as the No. 124 player and No. 9 offensive tackle in the country by On3.
