A Williamsport, Pa., native, Potts spent the past three seasons at Minne- sota, where he ran for 1,147 yards and 10 touchdowns and was a three-time Aca- demic All-Big Ten selection. Listed at 5-foot-11, 210 pounds on the Gophers' 2022 roster, he will have at least two years of college eligibility remaining when he arrives at Penn State. The Nittany Lions had only two scholarship running backs on campus this spring in sophomores Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Two more — freshmen London Montgomery and Cam Wallace — are coming this sum- mer, but Potts gives the Lions experi- enced depth at the position. BWI caught up with him recently to talk about his decision. BWI: How did the transfer come to- gether for you? You went into the portal on March 13. How soon was it before you heard from Penn State? POTTS: I went into the portal in March. I got some follows on Twitter, and Penn State reached out immediately — one of their recruiting coordinators, Rashad Rich, and then [running backs coach] Ja'Juan Seider. They were in con- tact probably in the first couple of days. A lot of schools had very inconsistent contact, but Penn State just hammered it down. BWI: The coaching staff brought you in for a visit in March. What did they show you POTTS: I had been to Penn State a few times, but they do have a new weight room, so they showed me all the new stuff that they had. I got to sit in the running backs room and see how Coach Seider coaches. I got to watch practice. It was the full thing. BWI: Why was Penn State the right choice for you?
