I also recognize that playing a top-10 program every week is not realistic. However, there are at least 64 FBS pro- grams that are a worthy ND opponent as opposed to FCS games. It is my hope that the destruction of the original conferences at least forces all the football powers to play each other versus collect wins against teams that operate at a different level. Is it really a game when everyone ex- pects ND to win by 40 points? Is it sim- ply trying to collect money from the fans while lowering the competition element? The topic and answer were about half of a page. And you stated the Blue & Gold Illustrated wants to spend time writing about who is going to Notre Dame. In my opinion, you spent way too much print on Justin Scott and — by the way — he's going to Ohio State. A waste of our time. BTW, today's college sports are all about the money. Here is a small sampling of their thoughts from our message board on BlueandGold.com. Rockne1988: Can't blame him for wanting to be at a school that's 100 percent all-in in regard to football. Having said that, last night was rough. TenaciousND: Not a great look to get boat-raced at a "school" that will pay whatever it takes to be great at football even if their academics are a joke and their library is in shambles. He certainly won't live out that contract losing 4 games per year. Irishmark: He just can't help himself. Just shut up already and, if you need to talk, just talk about the fact the Notre Dame wasn't going to give you $100 million. Forget academics, architectural buildings and training tables. The reason was money, and that's fine. We don't wish you ill will, but you bring it on. Headless: True, but do you know what is more important than building that athletic building? Recruiting. Moshpickl94: Speak for yourself, I hope he loses every big game and fails at LSU. Would certainly change his mainstream narrative and shed light on a more realistic narrative that he is a good but not great coach. JamesLawrence37: I don't know. Great is a big word but he's a pretty darn good coach. I know it's easy to bag on him after getting smoked by FSU last night. But let's not forget he took down Alabama last season in his first season. And had the balls to go for two to win. That said, he looks petty and needs to move on. Llenas: College athletics is epitomized by Kelly's comments. Rather than provide a good learning experience and proper academic buildings, they provide for athletes. What is college anymore within the SEC, minus Vandy? I love football, but the main goal is academics, that is the point of a school. SDS123: At some point when he is asked about Notre Dame he should firmly say he's said all there's left to be said about his time there. For all his politicking ways, he just seems dense about how this comes off. He's right about the academics and I don't have a problem with that. I thought college was for educa- tion first. P.S., I wouldn't rule out LSU this year. I think they will get better. Not sure if Kelly can change his ways as respects big games though. Irishdoob1: Getting tired of ESPN and their antics. It is now Year 2 and BK is LSU's coach. Stop stirring s*** with these questions already. And shame on him for entertaining the BS. Definitely not a good look for him, especially with similar results. Perfectly describing Kelly's handwring- ing, and then the last sentence, mentioning Kelly's second season starting with a thorough *** beating getting out scored 31-7 in the second half. 53green: BK thought it would be a "windfall" situation at LSU. He forgot the innate discipline/cama- raderie/self-responsibility of ND players. That's not necessarily a given at LSU. It's pretty much a top-to-bottom requirement to get into ND. He's going to have to try and build these things "on his own" into these players which he hasn't done in a long time. He can't just play bend-don't-break football and expect to breeze through the SEC. The stuff he says about ND is just to distract from his own shortcomings at this point. St.Anthanasius: Weak men always blame others instead of the man in the mirror. Arrowfan624: He was never interested in winning a title at ND for most if his time. He was always looking toward the NFL … had 2016 been a good year instead of the mess it was, he'd have hopped for the NFL by now. He stated in a podcast that he liked the control allowed to him in college … that means he runs the university, not the president or any board of trustees. Most people at LSU would commit minor crimes to win a championship there. Had he shown the same interest in the university Marcus Freeman has, he'd have way more political leverage to get what he wants.
