44 SEPT. 30, 2023 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED BY KYLE KELLY The Notre Dame football program added another verbal commitment to the 2024 class. On Sept. 19, four-star offensive tackle Guerby Lambert an- nounced his pledge to the Fighting Irish. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Lambert chose Notre Dame over Boston College, Harvard and Ohio State. He officially visited all four schools in June. His first official visit was to Notre Dame from June 2-4. During it, the Irish made a big move in his recruitment. "The opportunities for life after football there are endless," Lambert told On3's Hayes Fawcett. "They have an amazing coaching staff, a great en- gineering program, which is the ma- jor I want to get into, and overall faith. I prayed over this decision every day, and I feel that God is telling me Notre Dame." According to On3's rankings, Lambert is the No. 1 prospect in Massachusetts, and the No. 4 offensive tackle and No. 28 overall player. L a m b e r t a t te n d s We s t Rox b u ry (Mass.) Catholic Memorial — the same school that produced 2023 four-star defensive lineman Boubacar Traore. The 6-4, 237-pound Traore enrolled at Notre Dame in June. Notre Dame initially offered Lambert on March 17, 2022, on its "Pot of Gold" day. Since then, the staff has had the elite prospect at the top of its board for the duration of the cycle. The Irish re- cruited Lambert for about 15 months until they could host him on campus in June. Their efforts paid off with the commitment. "I'd say I'm closest to Coach [Joe] Ru- dolph and Coach [Marcus] Freeman," Lambert said. "Their plan is just to coach me into being the best player and human I can be." Lambert has only visited Notre Dame once, and he's only left his home state of Massachusetts twice for college vis- its — one to Ohio State and the other to Notre Dame. "Notre Dame, they just said how much it means to get me on their team," Lambert said. "They really pushed to get me on their team. They really wanted me there. They made that known." Lambert reported 21 Power Five scholarship offers during his recruit- ment. Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Penn State and Stanford are among the other programs that had offered him. He gives Notre Dame four offensive line commitments in the 2024 class. Lambert joins Malvern (Pa.) Prep's Peter Jones and Roswell (Ga.) High's Anthonie Knapp, who project as interior line- man in college. Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern's Styles Prescod expects to play tackle at Notre Dame. Prescod and Knapp are both top-200, four-star recruits, ranked respectively as the No. 10 and 11 interior offensive linemen in the 2024 cycle. Jones is a three-star, and On3 rates him as the No. 58 interior offensive lineman in 2024. ✦ Four-Star Offensive Tackle Picks Notre Dame Over Ohio State, Others COMMITMENT PROFILE GUERBY LAMBERT FILM ANALYSIS "Guerby Lambert is an offensive tackle who we've been high on at On3 for the entirety of the 2024 cycle. I really liked his sophomore film off the jump. The combination of size and movement skills were advanced for that stage, and he continued to make improvements as a junior. "Starting off, the size is prototypical. He's 6-6, 290 pounds with a 7-foot wingspan. He certainly has the frame you'd want for the position, and he's continued to fill out and get bigger and stronger over the past year. He pri- marily lines up at right tackle, and I could see him playing on either side at the next level. He's a pure tackle. "In addition to his stature, his movement skills jump out to me. He's very flexible, and you can see that when he gets into his stance — he has a flat back stance. He's a fluid, func- tional athlete. He sinks his hips, gets under defensive linemen and gets a good push in the run game. He got stronger as a junior. Lambert shows signs of being a dominant run blocker, which is what you want in a right tackle. "… We'll continue to evaluate him as a se- nior, and I'd love to see him in person. I do think he has a really high upside. This is a big get for Notre Dame. He caps off another really strong offensive line class at Notre Dame. Add- ing a guy who is a true tackle with Lambert's length, movement skills, size, and upside is a really nice way to cap off the offensive line class for Notre Dame." — On3 director of scouting and rankings Charles Power Lambert, who plays for West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial, is ranked as the No. 4 offensive tackle and No. 28 overall player in the 2024 class by On3. PHOTO BY KYLE KELLY "The opportunities for life after football there are endless. They have an amazing coaching staff, a great engineering program, which is the major I want to get into, and overall faith. I prayed over this decision every day, and I feel that God is telling me Notre Dame." LAMBERT
