44 OCT. 14, 2023 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY MIKE SINGER N otre Dame's had a massive home- game recruiting weekend when Ohio State came to town Sept. 23, and the Fighting Irish staff has another huge opportunity to impress prospects when Marcus Freeman's program faces USC Oct. 14. In the days leading up to the contest, BlueandGold.com, our fan site in the On3 network, will have daily reports on the prospects being added to the visit list. But as far as early confirmations go, here are 10 uncommitted names to know. JEROME BETTIS JR. Wide Receiver • 6-3, 185 Class Of 2025 Atlanta Woodward Academy On3 Rankings: Three-star recruit, No. 39 player in Georgia and No. 60 wide receiver nationally. The Skinny: The son of Notre Dame legend Jerome Bettis Sr. may seem like a lock to end up with the Fighting Irish, and he probably is. The high school ju- nior has been a regular visitor at Notre Dame this year, and it's no surprise that he'll be on campus for another key showdown. Bettis doesn't plan on announcing a commitment until after his own sea- son ends, but when he does go into de- cision mode the Irish will be tough to beat. Texas A&M, Missouri, Duke, Pur- due and North Carolina State are a few schools on his offer sheet. BRETT CLATTERBAUGH Linebacker • 6-2, 240 Class Of 2025 Culpeper (Va.) Eastern View On3 Rankings: Three-star recruit, No. 12 player in Virginia and No. 34 linebacker nationally. The Skinny: This will be Clatter- baugh's first game-day experience in South Bend. He's been to campus previ- ously, though, to catch a spring practice back in April. He has visited Penn State, South Car- olina and Virginia Tech much more fre- quently than Notre Dame at this point, but he'll get a great look at what a future with the Fighting Irish could look like. JAMES FLANIGAN Tight end • 6-6, 220 Class Of 2025 Green Bay (Wis.) Notre Dame de la Baie Academy On3 Rankings: Three-star recruit, No. 4 player in Wisconsin, and No. 9 tight end and No. 229 overall player na- tionally. The Skinny: The son of former Notre Dame defensive lineman Jim Flanigan is a crucial target for the Irish in the 2025 cycle. After losing a commitment from tight end Nate Roberts a couple months ago, Flanigan has become more of an important prospect for position coach Gerad Parker and Co. Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan and Stanford are among the other schools after Flanigan, who could also play de- fensive line at the next level. DOMINIK HULAK Linebacker • 6-3, 225 Class Of 2025 Chicago Immaculate Conception On3 Rankings: Three-star recruit, No. 13 player in Illinois and No. 42 line- backer nationally. The Skinny: Iowa, Wisconsin, Il- linois, Purdue, Louisville and Missouri are among 11 schools with scholarship offers out to Hulak. Notre Dame is an- other school in pursuit, and the Irish look to be tough to beat in his recruit- ment. Since March, he's visited South Bend three times, and trip No. 4 may put Marcus Freeman's program clearly in the driver's seat. Blue & Gold Illustrated believes he's on commitment watch headed into the visit Oct. 14. Ten Visitors To Know For The Notre Dame-USC Game Irish legacy Jerome Bettis Jr. — the son of Notre Dame great Jerome Bettis Sr. — is rated as the No. 39 junior in Georgia and the No. 60 wide receiver in the country by On3. PHOTO BY CHAD WEAVER On3 ranks Dominik Hulak — a 6-3, 225-pound junior linebacker from Chicago — as the No 13 player in Illinois and the No. 42 linebacker nation- ally. Hulak has shown a strong interest in the Irish. PHOTO BY KYLE KELLY
