DECEMBER 2023 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 13 ❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Elise Stuck has appeared in 71 games with three starts for 12th-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico's club. Previ- ously a reserve, Stuck is set to play a bigger role this season, having opened the first outing of the season, a win over Purdue Fort Wayne. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Stuck is enrolled in U-M's School of Kinesiology and majoring in movement science. Here are some things about Stuck that you may not have known: Best Aspect Of Being From Char- levoix, Mich.: "Being able to be out on the water." Favorite Restaurant In Ann Ar- bor: "Frita Batidos." Best Meal She Can Cook By Her- self: "I can make a mean lasagna. Like a meat sauce, beef situation." Favorite Professional Athlete: "I grew up loving Kawhi Leonard. That might be partially because of my dad. He has the 'Board Man Gets Paid' tees, so I had one of those. He's just super fundamental and a solid player." Sport She Enjoys Playing Be- sides Basketball: "Right now, I like pickleball. It's a Michigan thing, I guess." Favorite Television Show: "I'm a terrible watcher of TV. I've never watched any full series in its entirety." Favorite Movie: "My favorite thriller is 'Shutter Island.' That's a crazy movie." Why She Chose Michigan: "I wanted something completely differ- ent than home, from a school stand- point. I loved the intensity of practice here. I loved the pace. "It was just different for me. I didn't want to be somewhere that was similar to home, and this felt completely dif- ferent." What She Hopes To Do After Michigan: "I want to go to PT school, become a physical therapist. Hope- fully, open my own practice. That's the dream right now." Favorite Memory At Michigan: "Outside of going to the Elite Eight, it would be some of the memories on our foreign trip this summer. That was an awesome experience and probably one that I'll never have again in my life. That was really cool being able to be with the team. We had an awesome boat day where we were going along the coast of Italy." Overall Experience At Michigan: "Ann Arbor has been the best of both worlds for me — from athletics and academics to just as a town in general. It's a great college town. I've had an awesome experience here. "My first couple years, coming in dur- ing the pandemic, were not awesome. But over the years, I've grown so much as a person here, made so many awesome, lifelong friends. And then being able to play for such a successful program and learn from so many successful people every day — on the court and in aca- demics — has really been an incredible opportunity for me." — Clayton Sayfie ❱  Getting To Know Women's Basketball Senior Guard/Forward Elise Stuck Stuck, a 6-foot-1 veteran, averaged 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game as a reserve a year ago but started the first game of the 2023-24 season.
