6 THE WOLVERINE ❱ DECEMBER 2023 ❱ 'JUKEBOX' SEMAJ MORGAN TUNING UP OPPOSING DEFENSES U-M football has plenty of playmakers on its 2023 roster on both sides of the ball, but true freshman wide receiver Semaj Morgan, nicknamed "Jukebox" for his shiftiness on the field, has turned heads with his play this season. The West Bloomfield native had 2 catches for 27 yards and rushed once on a jet sweep for a 44-yard touchdown in a 41-13 win over Purdue on Nov. 4 under the lights at Michigan Stadium. The score was his third of the season, and he continues to establish himself as an asset now and a potential future star on the field. "I'm so proud of that guy," senior wideout Roman Wilson said after the game. "That's a guy that comes in here and has the only mindset of coming in and trying to achieve greatness. This guy comes in, and [has] the best atti- tude I've ever seen in a person, the best work ethic. He comes to me for answers and asks me questions that when I was his age I didn't ask older guys. He really wants to be great, and just seeing him come in here and make plays, it's also just another blessing to be around this guy. I'm so excited to see what he's going to do the rest of this year." Morgan also has a huge fan in head coach Jim Harbaugh, who sees the potential for a home run every time he touches the ball. "He's electric," Harbaugh said. "Ball in his hands, it's got a chance to go a distance. And he's just strong. I mean, not huge in stature, you know? It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. He's every bit, and a true freshman. "The guys love him, and it's a spark the way he competes.
