FORMER WOLVERINES IN THE NHL: FIVE STARS OF THE MONTH Through Dec. 10 • Kyle Connor (played at U-M from 2015-16), LW, Winnipeg Jets: He's tied atop the 16-8-2 Jets and ranks tied for 21st in the NHL with 28 points, pacing the team with 17 goals to go along with 11 assists (third on the squad). He suffered a lower- body injury after taking a knee-on-knee hit in a 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks Dec. 10. • Quinn Hughes (2017-19), D, Vancouver Ca- nucks: He leads all NHL defensemen in points (36), goals (9) and assists (27, tied) for the 18-9-1 Canucks. He had an 11-game point-scoring streak from Nov. 6 to Nov. 25. • Zach Hyman (2012-15), C, Edmonton Oilers: On a team that features NHL.com's No. 1 player in the league heading into the season, Connor McDa- vid, it's Hyman who leads the squad with 15 goals, adding 12 assists for 27 points. His plus-8 on-ice rating also bests the 12-12-1 Oilers. • Luke Hughes (2021-23), D, New Jersey Devils: At +1000, he has the third-best odds to win the Calder Trophy, handed out to the league's top rookie. Hughes has been stellar with 4 goals and 12 assists for the 14-11-1 Devils to rank 25th among NHL defensemen with 12 points. • Zach Werenski (2014-16), D, Columbus Blue Jackets: His 20 points (1 goal, 20 assists) check in 11th among the league's defensemen.
