4 THE WOLVERINE ❱ MARCH 2024 SHERRONE MOORE ERA BEGINS This really feels like a home run hire for Michigan. You have to prove it on the field, but he kinda has already. Obviously, he has to show more results than that. But he understands Michigan, and I love everything that he has said so far. phillyfan593 I'm so fired up right now. I couldn't be happier with this hire. I honestly think Sherrone is going to bring a new energy to Michigan football. Mark_in_MI Pumped about Sherrone. Everything he says re- flects that he just gets it, and it's not just lip service. NotTom Really liking this transition. No questions about knowing the words to "The Victors." No questions about what about the job drew him in. No ques- tions about dream job or who from what other spot you're gonna bring in. Flat out "next man up." Chicago_Blue Sherrone's tone-setting speech [at the first team meeting] was fantastic. This guy is going to be a great coach. RosesAndWolverines I think Sherrone is going to do well. Regardless of his tactical ability as a coach, he seems to be a true leader that folks want to follow and play for. Smart, articulate, charismatic, very hard worker and calm under pressure. Also, he has a history of excelling at every task placed on him by Jim. And he "fits" Michigan as it has been rebuilt by Jim. Think he is going to kill it. Daunte Hopefully we hit on a star here with Sherrone Moore, but it's not likely historically speaking trying to follow someone like Jim. Michigan better go all out to support Sherrone in a unified fashion. Not just lip service. TimG1996 NIL REALITY IS NOT THE RIGHT MODEL This may be an unpopular opinion about NIL, but begging fans to donate their money to keep play- ers on a team they root for is NOT what NIL was meant to be. NIL was meant for players to earn money off their Name, Image or Likeness from deals with "spon- sors." Like a player being in an advertisement for a local car dealership or a local grocery store, not for these collectives to pay for these players to play for their chosen schools. College football is broken, and the only way to fix it, in my opinion, is for the schools to pay the players directly using revenue from ticket sales, TV deals, merchandising, etc., in addition to any extra donations the schools would get from their alumni and fans. The NCAA is not the answer, either. They are one of the worst-run organizations when it comes to en- forcing their dumb rules. They are "too busy" look- ing for cheeseburger receipts and iPhone videos to "see" the Alabamas and OSUs of CFB openly cheat. TrueBlueFanatic This is actually an extremely popular take, lol. Everyone thinks and knows the entire current landscape is absurd and not sustainable, but until change is forced, what else is there to do about it? Hail_Blue I think everyone agrees. The issue is you either play the game the way it's being played or you are going to be a nobody. That's the very unfortunate reality. MRSharkFB It's a disaster. And it's going to get a lot worse. As is true in any emerging and unregulated market, fraud/abuse and misleading deals and contracts will become rampant. acousticmike80 Yes, of course it wasn't [intended to be this way]. The current system is stupid and irrational. But, it is what it is. Michigan and its fans don't have to en- gage ... but it's an explicit choice dictating whether Michigan can compete in the current setup or not. All the other top programs are doing it, and only programs doing it will compete until things change. It is what it is. Wishing it wasn't what it is, is just that ... wishing. crawdad8 THANK YOU, JIM Harbaugh headed to LA Chargers … Best of luck Coach! Thanks for the memories. OverUnder Wish he did it a little sooner, but will always be thankful for what he did. Go win that Super Bowl, Coach! Bluearl Ah, ****. Hell of a tenure and thanks for the na- tional title. Wish him well in LA. davelewis21 What a roller coaster. So, does that mean he won't be meeting with Michigan later this week? Lol. Tkohlmann25 Thanks for some great years. Glad the drama is over. Time will tell if it was the right decision. hollywood85 March 2024 • Vol. 35, No. 9 ISSN 1048-9940 TheWolverine.com Senior Editor Chris Balas Senior Writer John Borton Staff Writers Clayton Sayfie Anthony Broome EJ Holland Zach Libby Drew Hallett Contributing Editors Stu Coman Matt Herb Cathy Jones Chris Riffer Steve Downey Layout And Design Jeanette Blankenship Chris Miller Contributing Photographers Lon Horwedel, Per Kjeldsen, Dominick Sokotoff, Gabriella Ceritano Cover Photos Dominick Sokotoff (Sherrone Moore) EJ Holland (Blake Frazier) Zach Libby (Jordan Marshall) Editor & Publisher Mark Panus Business Manager Linda Autry Circulation Manager Crystal Clayton Advertising Sales Maria Taustine (502) 552-4390 Customer Service Cathy Jones, Stephanie Petchers (800) 421-7751 The Wolverine is published monthly.
