The FPI's odds are based on 20,000 computer simulations and are "meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season." Prior to the start of the season, Penn State had a 63.8 percent chance of mak- ing the CFP. 1 s t Tyler Warren's ranking among NFL offensive rookies in ESPN's list of quarter-season award winners. Warren, who was chosen 14th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in April, was tabbed by writer Bill Barnwell as Offensive Rookie of the Year though the season's first four games, during which the 6-foot-6, 256-pound tight end caught 19 passes for 263 yards. As was the case at Penn State, Warren is being used in a multitude of ways by the Colts. In addition to lining up at his customary position, he's been stationed in the backfield as a fullback and even as a wildcat quarterback. "Warren is a special talent," Barnwell wrote, "and he has been an essential part of the Colts' offense as the team has got- ten off to a 3-1 start." 2 Single-period hat tricks in Penn State men's ice hockey history. The first was by Casey Bailey against Ohio State in January 2015, and junior forward Matt DiMarsico matched that feat when he scored 3 goals in the third period of fifth-ranked Penn State's season-open- ing 6-3 victory over No. 14 Arizona State on Oct. 3 in Tempe. DiMarsico tied the score at 3-3 off an assist from sophomore forward Charlie Cerrato early in the third period. Just under seven minutes later, the two Nittany Lions teamed up again for what would prove to be the game- winner. Cerrato tied a PSU single-game record with 5 points on 2 goals and 3 as- sists in the contest. 1 5 Kills by Kennedy Martin, on .583 hitting, in the third set of the Penn State women's volleyball team's 3-1 loss to UCLA on Sept. 28 at Rec Hall. The junior right-side hitter finished with 34 kills against the Bruins, the most by any player in the nation this season in a four- set match. 3 4 Consecutive victories over un- ranked opponents by the Penn State football team, a streak that ended with the Lions' loss to previously winless UCLA. Prior to their defeat in the Rose Bowl, the Nittany Lions hadn't lost to an unranked foe since fall- ing to Illinois, 20-18, in a now-infamous nine-overtime slugfest in October 2021. 4 0 Years since a team with an 0-4 record or worse defeated a top- 10 opponent prior to seventh-ranked Penn State's loss to UCLA. The last time it happened was on Oct. 26, 1985, when Texas El Paso beat No. 7 BYU, 23-16. Since 1955, the only other top-10 team to fall to an 0-4-or-worse opponent was No. 6 Navy, which lost to Tulane, 14-6, on Oct. 18, 1958. 8 , 134 DREW ALLAR's yardage total in his four seasons at Penn State. He amassed 7,402 yards passing and added an- other 732 yards on the ground. 8.5 million Viewers for Penn State's 30-24 double-overtime loss to Oregon on Sept. 27.
