C O M Bourque this past spring, followed by Croucher for most of the summer, it feels as though the Nittany Lions are taking a much more focused approach at the po- sition. With that said, it's only been a few weeks since they officially offered Haven, so time will tell. The early feedback from Haven's visit for White Out weekend was positive. O'Brien has to aim high because the Lions need talent, and there aren't a lot of highly ranked quarterbacks in the class who remain uncommitted. Haven has long- standing relationships with the coaches at Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Georgia, all of whom are still recruiting him ag- gressively. Add in Penn State's very lim- ited success in Louisiana over the years, not to mention what Haven could com- mand financially, and it's fair to wonder how long PSU can wait before casting a wider net. A four-star prospect according to Ri- vals, Haven is listed as the No. 98 overall player and No. 7 quarterback nationally, as well as the No. 6 prospect in his home state. The Dunham School standout is even higher in the Rivals Industry Rank- ing, which incorporates the grades of all three major recruiting websites. In ad- dition to boasting a five-star grade, he's listed No. 15 among all prospects nation- ally, No. 1 at quarterback and No. 3 in Louisiana. Ben Musser 6-2 | 195 | Bogart, Ga. Musser was previously committed to Virginia Tech but decided to open up his recruitment after head coach Brent Pry was fired in September. The coaching change prompted him to visit Penn State shortly after the White Out game. Al- though he hasn't earned an offer from the staff yet, he is clearly someone to watch. Rivals scouting director Charles Power said Musser is reminiscent of former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula, who is now at Missouri. Through seven games this season, he had totaled 1,415 yards passing and 18 touchdowns while also rushing for 372 yards and 5 scores. Musser visited Vanderbilt the week before Penn State and is expected to check out Ala- bama in November. Rivals lists him as the No. 45 quarter- back nationally and No. 68 prospect in Georgia, where he attends Prince Avenue Christian. In the Rivals Industry Ranking, he's listed No. 284 overall, No. 23 among quarterbacks nationally and No. 34 in his home state. Lonnie Andrews III 6-0, 200 | Chesapeake, Va. Andrews has been on Penn State's ra- dar since last season, when he led Os- car Smith High to a 17-0 record and state 6A championship as a sophomore. He threw for more than 2,700 yards and had 28 touchdown passes in the Tigers' title- winning campaign, while also rushing for 414 yards and 4 scores. Andrews is having another solid season this fall, which is why Penn State's staff is planning to get him back for a visit on Nov. 8 for its game against Indiana. He doesn't have the height that the staff pre- fers, but he's a pretty good athlete who ran a 22.7-second 200-meter time this past spring. Andrews admitted in August that his relationship with Virginia's staff has the Cavaliers in the driver's seat. However, an offer from a school like Penn State would certainly change his recruitment. A four-star prospect per Rivals, he's ranked No. 187 overall, No. 17 at quar- terback nationally and No. 5 in Virginia. We'll get a better read on where he stands when he returns to campus in a few weeks. Kevin Parker 6-1, 175 | Newport News, Va. Parker is the best pure athlete in this group. He's run a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and has also earned interest from Division I schools for basketball. As a junior at Denbigh High, he's thrown for 1,071 yards and 8 touchdowns while also rushing for 297 yards and 2 more scores. Most of Parker's offers are to play quar- terback, but a few schools envision him on defense. Penn State's coaches are still sorting that out, but first they need to get him on campus. Parker was supposed to visit for the Oregon game but couldn't make it. The staff has already invited him to see the game against Indiana on Nov. 8, but it's unclear whether he'll be able to make the trip. Listed by Rivals as a three-star pros- pect, Parker is No. 283 among all players nationally, No. 22 at quarterback and No. 8 in Virginia. ■ Elijah Haven is the top-rated quarterback in the Rivals Industry Ranking for the 2027 class. Penn State has made a good first impression but is a recent entry into a battle that also includes Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Georgia. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS
