NOVEMBER 2025 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 13 ❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Zoë Bormet is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree majoring in psy- chology and minoring in entrepre- neurship who's also excelled on the field. The daughter of Michigan head wrestling coach Sean Bormet, Zoë ap- peared in all 20 games at midfield and back as a redshirt sophomore in 2024, and has played in all 12 with 6 starts so far this year, tallying 1 goal and 1 assist. Here are some things about Bormet you may not have known: Best Aspect Of Being From Ann Arbor: "Knowing the hidden gems and the must-knows, must-eats, must-sees, like classic Blimpy Burger, all those little niche things that only an Ann Arbor na- tive knows." Favorite Restaurant In Ann Arbor: "Poke Fish [Sushi]." Best Meal She Can Cook By Her- self: "This is not a meal, but my spe- cialty is guacamole. I'm always on gua- camole duty at home with my family." Favorite Professional Athlete: "[Former tennis player] Billie Jean King. I loved how fiercely she fought for gen- der equality and the battle of the sexes. I loved her fire." Sport She Enjoys Besides Field Hockey: "I've always told myself when my field hockey career is over, I'll go back to dance. I was a dancer for a long time. I did ballet, I did pointe, all that — and I loved it." Favorite Movie: "'Ferris Bueller's Day Off.'" Favorite TV Show: "Either 'The Of- fice' or 'Modern Family.'" Why She Chose Michigan: "Grow- ing up in Ann Arbor, I really fell in love with the town and community. By mid- dle school, I realized that I loved field hockey and wanted to play as long as I possibly could. With my dad being a coach and around athletics at the Divi- sion I level, I knew that if I worked really hard that could be attainable for me. My goal was to play here at Michigan." What She Hopes To Do After Michigan: "That's a tough question for me. I love psychology. I've found it's a really versatile major, because when you look at the world in general or the work- force, it's hard to find anything that isn't psychology-driven to an extent, whether it's human behavior, decision-making, how are you selling things, how are you marketing things. But, the truth is, I have no idea what I want to do yet. Luckily, I can put that off for a little bit longer, because I do have a fifth year, and I'm going to be coming back to do the Mas- ters of Management [program at U-M's Ross Business School] — hopefully … I'm going to apply — and get that under my belt." Favorite Memory At Michigan: "When our Team IMPACT match, [11-year-old] Charlotte, signed with us in spring of 2024. Getting so heavily involved with Team IMPACT [which matches children with serious illnesses or disabilities with college sports teams] has probably been one of the greatest highlights of my time here at Michigan. I don't think my time here would be as impactful or meaningful or as fulfilling if I didn't have Team IMPACT and Charlotte with our team." Overall Experience At Michigan: "There's no way to truly put into words the experience that you have, not only just being a student here at Michigan but being that small percentage of the population that also gets to be a stu- dent-athlete here is a once-in-a-life- time experience. Everything you learn — every skill, every experience — that you have here is something that you take with you for the rest of your life. Being a student-athlete with Michigan field hockey, it's a program and school that prepares you for anything that's going to come your way later in life. I feel completely prepared for breaking out into the world after my time here." — Clayton Sayfie A first-team All-American at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, Bormet has started six of 12 games and tallied 1 goal and 1 assist as a midfielder for U-M this season.
