NOVEMBER 2026 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 13 ❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Midfielder Abby Burnett was named an All-Big Ten sec- ond-teamer in 2023 and 2025, appearing in 16 games with 12 starts and posting 2 goals and 4 assists. As a senior in 2026, the biology major and Academic All-Big Ten honoree has put up 2 assists in the first 10 games, starting all of them. Here are some things about Burnett you may not have known: Best Aspect Of Being From Zionsville, Pa.: "The level of sup- port for field hockey. In this small area, the legacy of my high school and field hockey, in my town it made me feel really sup- ported growing up and made me feel like field hockey is really valuable when it's not that popular of a sport." Favorite Restaurant in Ann Arbor: "Mani Osteria." Best Meal She Can Cook By Herself: "I'm a big cook. Prob- ably pasta with vodka sauce or tomato cream sauce." Favorite Professional Athlete: "Michael Jordan. I wore 23 in high school because of him. His determination and drive are really inspiring and just keeping it going after challenges. It's really inspirational." Sport She Enjoys Besides Field Hockey: "Something I've developed a love for in college is gymnastics because my three best friends are on the men's and women's gymnastics teams, so I've really gotten to learn and enjoy that. My sister did gym- nastics when she was younger." Favorite Movie: "'My favorite movie series is 'Star Wars'." Favorite TV Show: "'Criminal Minds' or 'White Lotus'." Why She Chose Michigan: "Both of my parents went to grad school here at Michigan. Literally from birth, I was a Michigan fan. I was put in a Michigan onesie. I watched the football, field hockey, basketball, ice hockey growing up. I felt really con- nected with the sports atmosphere. Both my parents, from the academic side of things, told me how rigorous it is and how far the Michigan degree can take you, making me definitely want to explore those options." What She Hopes To Do After Michigan: "I'm planning on attending vet school." Favorite Memory At Michigan: "Winning the Big Ten cham- pionship my sophomore year." Overall Experience At Michigan: "It's been the best four years of my life. I've met my best friends here. I've made amaz- ing memories, gotten to experience more than I ever thought. I'm really grateful for the opportunities that Michigan provides, academically and athletically. I can't wait to see where this last year takes me and where I go in the future." — Clayton Sayfie ❱  Getting To Know Field Hockey Senior Abby Burnett Burnett started 59 of her first 63 games, including all 37 as an underclassman to make an immediate impact for the Wolverines.
